Project management phases for effective health system improvement.

Project monitoring and evaluation

The Medwise team reviews projects collaboratively with the implementing teams and other relevant stakeholders. These engagements facilitate unpacking of the project(s) journey to visualize how they were implemented, their results and the effects they had on the beneficiaries. We apply methodologies anchored in recognized theories and frameworks and provide actionable recommendations to inform decisions to elevate organizational and project performance.                                                                                                              .

Research and knowledge management

We understand that knowledge is power. In tandem with this we conduct research to gather evidence to address knowledge gaps and contribute to existing bodies of evidence. The Medwise team is capable of undertaking research projects from design and protocol development, to writing and disseminating results using technical and non-technical approaches. We have experience in qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research. Additionally, to optimize the utility of this evidence we develop communication packages that are tailored to the needs and interests of different audiences.                                .

Health policy and strategic plan development

Our team engages with stakeholders at all levels to define policy priorities, conduct situational analysis and provide recommendations on viable options to inform policy development. We also have experience in conducting assessments of both internal and external environments to provide insights into the factors within and outside of organizations which determine its performance. Based on this information we support organizations to develop or realign their strategic plans to enhance their ability to thrive and succeed in fulfilling their goals.

Quality management and safety of health services

We conduct assessments of service delivery within health facilities collaboratively with healthcare staff. These findings are a measure of the quality and safety of the services and the environment in which they are delivered. We apply recognized methodologies and tools to conduct these assessments, and provide feedback to the healthcare teams to enable them know their successes and areas for improvement.   .

Capacity enhancement initiatives

Transfer of skills is embedded in our approach to conducting assessments and providing feedback to clients. The aim of this is to equip them with knowledge and skills to improve on their performance. Moreover, our consultants partner with international training initiatives to develop the competencies of healthcare workers and public health program officers to conduct operational research; and thereafter communicate their evidence effectively to relevant decision-makers to improve delivery of services.
